Our story

Diagnostic imaging deserved better, so we built it

Medical Imaging Partnership was founded by consultant radiologists who believed the quality of a diagnostic service is determined not by the scanner, but by the people behind it.

Since 2010, we have grown from a single site into a national network of diagnostic centres, mobile units and clinical partnerships spanning the length of England. But growth has never been the goal in itself.

Every new centre, every new pathway, every new partnership has been driven by a conviction that patients should not have to travel to a hospital for a scan that can be delivered safely, quickly and to the highest standard in their own community.

We are a clinician-led organisation where radiologists have a real voice in how services are designed and delivered. Our Chief Medical Officer, Dr Ynyr Hughes-Roberts, and our Lead Radiologist have genuine authority over clinical standards. Commercial decisions do not override clinical judgement. This is not a governance statement. It is how we operate, every day, across every site.

A scan is one step in a journey

Our responsibility does not end when the image is acquired. It ends when the right clinical action has been taken. We think about what happens before the scan, during it, and after it, because a pathway that diagnoses a condition but leaves the patient without a clear next step has done half a job.

Project 3D · Driving Diagnostic Delivery

The imaging experts

Experience, accuracy and quality you can trust. Not a marketing line, but the standard we hold ourselves to in every scan, every report and every interaction, and one we believe should be available in every community.

Behaviour 01

Enjoy the journey

We are building something exceptional. The work is demanding, but it should also be rewarding, energising and something our people are proud of.

Behaviour 02

Why not today?

If something can be improved or a patient needs help, we act now. Every member of staff has the accountability and authority to make a difference right now.

Behaviour 03

Reflect, grow, improve

We learn from everything we do. We review our performance honestly, seek feedback, and commit to being better tomorrow than today.

Principle

Do the basics brilliantly

Excellence is built on consistency. The fundamentals of care, communication and clinical quality, executed to the highest standard, every time.

Principle

Care beyond words

Compassion is not something we talk about. It is something patients feel from the moment they contact us to the moment they leave our care.

Principle

Yes we can

We find solutions. We say yes to challenge, yes to innovation, and yes to the patients and partners who need us.

Community-centred delivery is about equity, not just convenience

Serving communities

The model flexes to the community it serves

Our flagship Community Diagnostic Centre at the Amex Stadium in Brighton provides rapid-access imaging for patients across Sussex, and was featured as an exemplar in the IHPN report on community health services. But Brighton is one model.

In Stockport we operate from a community clinic alongside the GP federation. In Crowborough and Seaford we deliver through existing healthcare centres. In Eastbourne we support NHS hospital capacity. We prioritise deployment to areas where access is limited and where travel to an acute hospital is a genuine barrier to care.

Quality & governance

Clinically led, clinically governed

Governance is not a compliance exercise here; it is how a radiologist-founded organisation protects patients. Clinical judgement is never overridden by commercial decisions, and every layer of the organisation is accountable for quality.

Clinical leadership

Radiologist-led from the board down

A Medical Director and radiology leadership own clinical policy, protocols and escalation. Clinical governance reports to board level with a standing quality agenda.

Regulation

CQC registered, QSI accredited

Registered with the Care Quality Commission and accredited under the Quality Standard for Imaging (UKAS), with ISO 27001 information security and ISO 9001 quality management.

Safety

IR(ME)R and radiation protection

Full IR(ME)R governance with appointed Radiation Protection Advisers and Supervisors, audited exposure protocols, and dose optimisation across every modality.

Reporting quality

Subspecialist reporting, peer reviewed

Scans are reported by subspecialists in their own field, supported by discrepancy meetings, double-reading programmes and continuous audit of report quality and turnaround.

Learning

Duty of candour, incident learning

Open reporting culture with structured incident review, shared learning across all sites, and transparent communication with patients and referrers when things go wrong.

Measured

PROMs, PREMs and published outcomes

Patient-reported outcome and experience measures reviewed at site, pathway and board level, with Friends & Family results above 95% recommendation.

Together we succeed

Healthcare belongs in the community, not behind hospital walls. Every decision we make is tested against that belief.
