The Clinical Imaging Facility at Swansea University joins our network in 2026. Diagnostic imaging is not new to South Wales: the service continues, with a bilingual service for Welsh speakers.

What to expect
What is changing, and what is not
The service continues
Imaging in Swansea is not new, and neither is the unit. It joins our network in 2026, so patients and referrers keep the service they already know.
MRI and CT for adults
The facility provides MRI and CT covering neuro, MSK, vascular, body, cardiac and gynaecological imaging, for adult patients aged 18 and over, scanned by HCPC-registered radiographers.
Reported by subspecialists
Scans are reported by radiologists working in their own area: MSK, neuro, uro-radiology, cardiac and oncology. Most reports reach the referrer within one to five working days, and urgent findings are escalated straight away.
A bilingual service
Patients will be able to use Welsh when they contact us, at the unit and in our correspondence. Fair access to diagnostics includes language, not just distance.
Referrals carry on as they are
Clinicians who already refer into the unit do not need to do anything differently, and we will write to referrers before anything changes. Our referral centre answers seven days a week.
